When it comes to launching a startup an entrepreneur has dozens of questions to think about. Usually, they are more concerned about the design, choice of the logo, and, of course, marketing. But there is a thing that is far more important - the choice of the payment system. As that’s exactly the thing that will bring money to you and will become your main way of profit.

That choice can become a hard one. You have to keep in mind the peculiarities of your particular business, be aware of all the advantages and disadvantages of every system, even the country you are from and so on.

So, today we decided to tell you about the various payment systems to help you make a better choice for your startup.

PayPal

If you have ever bought anything over the Internet, from eBay, in particular, then you are familiar with PayPal payment system.

The system supports about 25 currencies over 200 countries. Here you can check the full list of countries.

Fees: the commission PayPal charges usually depends on the following factors: the nature of the transaction, the amount of money that PayPal processes each month and whether your transaction crosses international borders and needs currency conversion. Anyway, in most cases, PayPal charges 2,9% of the amount of money your customer pays, plus it charges $0.30 for every transaction. PayPal is a rather fast system. As a rule, it doesn’t take more than 1 day to send the money.

Unlikely most of the Internet payment services, PayPal doesn’t take monthly or regular payments from the customers. In other words, you pay only when you sell.  That’s especially comfortable for young startups, as far as in this case they are protected from paying service fee even if they don’t have any sales.

Yet another advantage of the system is that it’s fully customizable. The “add cart” and “view cart” options and buttons can be easily customized. The customization option requires nothing but copying an existing code.
