Project takeover case studies: inherited builds we finished and still run

Software we took over from another team and shipped

If another firm built 60 to 70% of your product and stopped, if your previous contractor left an outdated codebase and you have six weeks to launch, if your vendor never got a deployment pipeline running, or the team that built your software is leaving while it runs the business, the cases below are yours: a telehealth platform live in 6 weeks that grew into three, a learning platform rebuilt in 5 months, deploys 5x faster, a payroll SaaS renovated without a pause. A software audit from $5,000 comes first.

Inherited MVP rebuilt with AI feedback in 5 months

    • AI Development
    • SaaS
    • Sales Training Software

HeyPractice, Germany: Brocoders audited the codebase the company had inherited, kept the database and product logic, and rebuilt the API, business logic and React frontend on AWS, from October 2021 to production in 5 months. The pod grew from 2 to 8 people and shipped speech-to-text feedback in German and English on IBM Watson after AssemblyAI could not deliver German.

Inherited telehealth codebase to live platform in 6 weeks

    • Telehealth app
    • SaaS

CoreHealth, UK: when the previous contractor left an outdated codebase and a major customer set a 6-week deadline, Brocoders' team of five delivered the doctor consultation platform with video calls, booking and Stripe payments on React and Node.js, from discovery in July 2023 to the MVP in October. The work grew into three platforms: the consultation product, a pharmacy SaaS with online prescriptions, and a telehealth solution for prisons on Samsung tablets.

Legacy payroll SaaS renovated without pausing a payroll run

    • Payroll software

PayPilot, Canada: Brocoders put 5 React engineers on the legacy payroll SaaS within a couple of weeks and grew the team to 13, renovating the frontend while the client's own team rebuilt the back end. The modules shipped include Record of Employment, a first-time user wizard, year-end forms and finance, with QuickBooks and Xero integrations.

    Traders Alloy logo

Deploys 5x faster after the previous vendor's failed CI/CD

    • CI/CD

Traders Alloy, Sweden: after a tech and process audit, one senior Brocoders DevOps engineer built the CI/CD pipeline the previous vendor had not delivered, on Jenkins, Blue Ocean and DigitalOcean, with automated tests, Slack notifications and a split between the cloud and on-premises servers. Deployments run 5x faster and several times a day, and the team released 66.6% more features.

  • Gokada logo

Gokada motorbike ride-hailing app: 325,000 completed rides in year one

    • Geolocation integration
    • Marketplace

Gokada, Lagos: Brocoders built the rider and driver apps in React Native, the Node.js back end and the admin panel, with Mapbox and Google Maps for routing and Paystack for cashless payment, from July 2018 to the first release in early 2019. 1,000+ drivers took 1.5 million ride requests, daily requests grew 2.5x in the first six months, and Gokada raised a $5.3M Series A.
